Jas Mangat is a Vancouver criminal defence lawyer at Helps Law Corporation. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Criminology from Simon Fraser University and a LL.B. (Hons) law degree from the University of London.

Jas has extensive experience dealing with all types of criminal, regulatory and traffic offences. He has worked on all types of criminal offences including murder, manslaughter, assault, sexual assault, aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, theft, fraud, possession of stolen property, impaired driving and driving while prohibited.

Jas also has extensive experience dealing with Motor Vehicle Act offences including Immediate Roadside Prohibitions (IRP’s) and Administrative Driving Prohibitions (ADP’s). He has also successfully defended traffic tickets for all individuals including professional truck and taxi drivers.

Jas has also successfully defended claims of civil forfeiture under the Civil Forfeiture Act.

Jas has represented clients at all levels of court, including the Provincial Court of British Columbia, the Supreme Court of British Columbia and the British Columbia Court of Appeal.

Outside of work, Jas enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He is an avid sports fan, listing hockey and football as his favourites. He has also spent a considerable amount of time volunteering at the Vancouver Police Department, where he helped establish a community police office that directly addressed issues such as bullying, alcoholism, domestic violence and gang violence through community engagement and dialogue. He also volunteered at the Correctional Service of Canada, helping offenders reintegrate back into society. Jas continues to volunteer in the community whenever he gets a moment.

Jas is a member of the bar of British Columbia and the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia.
